Video Screening and Discussion: "Mosque Alert"
by Jane Hseu
Mosque Alert, by Jamil Khoury
Jamil Khoury is the founding artistic director of Chicago-based Silk Road Rising, which creates live theatre and online videos that tell stories through primarily Asian American and Middle Eastern American lenses.

He will screen and discuss video clips from his play, Mosque Alert, at Dominican on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bluhm Lecture Hall.

Mosque Alert tells the story of two suburban American families living in Naperville—one Christian, the other Muslim—who find their lives torn apart by a proposal to build a new mosque in their community.

The play’s subject matter refers to recent controversies over building mosques in DuPage County.

Jamil will discuss the play-in-process and civic engagement project in which community members give feedback as he develops the play. The presentation promises to be a provocative lecture that engages issues of religious diversity, social justice, civic engagement, and global citizenship.

Time: Thursday, April 11, 6:30 PM
Location: Parmer Hall, 108
