The annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Investigation (URSCI) Expo and Global Learning Symposium is getting a new kickstart, with the First Annual URSCI Film Festival on Tuesday, April 2.
The festival will open with a lecture, "Outside In: A Conversation with Self and Nature," by Corey McClure (BA, Photography, '13) at 7 p.m. in the Social Hall.
Following the lecture, the 1st Annual URSCI Film Festival will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall.
The first of its kind at Dominican, this film festival highlights works by current students, as part of the 2013 URSCI Expo. Narrative, Experimental and Documentary shorts will be featured. Free Popcorn!
Awarded that evening will be the Juror's Award ($200) by Chicago-based filmmaker, Lyra Hill, as well as the Audience Award, ($100) voted by the live audience attending the evening's screenings.
About the Juror:
Lyra Hill is a filmmaker and comics artist, working mostly with 16mm and S8mm and focuses on the avant-garde in both her film and comics work.
She is a member of the collaborative group, Trubble Club and runs a series of performative comix readings called Brain Frame. Lyra has juried for the
Chicago Underground Film Festival and the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo.
